Ok, I'm finally joining the bandwagon. Hitherto I've been adding interesting links and articles I've come across to my various webpages, be they for specific courses, or single-issue pages like those I maintain on Dachau, notetaking software, the quotation "First they came for the Communists...," my grandfather Herbert Marcuse (the Frankfurt School/New Left philosopher), and my own approach to history, Reception History. But this takes a lot of time, as I have to open up separate software and navigate to the correct page.
I'm now going to try to use this blog to do the same thing in a more efficient way, hoping to shorten the turnaround time, while still adding the most important things to those pages when I have time.
This is mostly intended for my own reference, so that I can find these things quickly when I want them, but if anyone else finds them useful, that is fine with me. (Please feel free to let me know by leaving me comments!)

- I'm a professor of German history at the University of California, Santa Barbara. A college physics/computer science major, after studying abroad I switched subjects and got an M.A. in history of art in Germany. I then went on to get a Ph.D. in history, writing about the history of the Dachau concentration camp after 1945.
