Web 2.0 and Historians

In October 2009 the first German conference on Web 2.0 was held (in the city of Siegen) "Web 2.0 und die Geschichtswissenschaft" (Web 2.0 and Historical Scholarship). Participant Prof. Peter Haber wrote a short hyperlinked overview on his blog (in German).

Each participant later summarized their presentation in thesis form on the Swiss HistNetWiki site. If you know German, those summaries are a great place to go to get an idea of how new web technologies are changing what historians do. Some of the things discussed: Information competence, use of blogs & wikis, collaboratively multi-authored publications, multi-media publications, "controlled" user feedback on publications, etc.
